What are electronic journals?
The way that we know what the latest trends and research findings are in fields like engineering, science, history, medicine, business, marketing, literature, and many others is through published studies and articles that offer observation and analysis from experts. These studies are published in various academic journals that have a publishing process that includes selection for relevance, recency, peer review, editing, and fact checking and are topic specific.
Academic journals have been published since the mid to late 19th century as a way for experts in various fields to communicate with one another on their research and continue to advance their studies by building on one another’s efforts. Over time, the number of journals has increased exponentially and there is now a journal for pretty much any topic you can think of. These days, rather than subscribing to a journal and having it mailed to your home or office at a regular interval, most journals are made and published digitally.
The downside of these journals, for most people, is that they cost money to access in the form of a subscription fee that must be paid in order to read the full text of the article you are looking for. Lucky for you, as a student at Terra State Community College, you are not most people, and you can get access to tons of academic journals for free.

How do I get to the electronic journal collection?
The easiest way to get to the Electronic Journal Center is to go through the Terra.edu website to the library page and then to this library guide. You will have to be logged in to your Terra account and that log in will make you an authenticated user for all Ohio LINK resources and services. The active link can be found below.
From there you can type in the keywords for your research topic and look through the results, or you can click on the "list of journals" button to do a broader search on and around your topic.
When looking at search results in the electronic journal center, it is important to refine your search results in a way that helps you find what you're looking for. And also, to make sure that what you do find is the most up-to-date information available.
